Projects as of late 08

Hey All,

1. As you can see from the attached photo, we've got our Magic School
Bus! It's not a Magic VEGGIE School Bus yet, but we have already
started planning the conversion process and it will be soon! The bus
is a reliable '99 ElDorado Cummins Diesel, a 28 passenger model that
will be able to take the Resychos all over the country to spread the
word about alternative fuel source options.

2. Take a listen to the first draft of the Resychos first song for
the Sing Along Album. The Tomato Song was born of a one string guitar
and recorded in a basement, but we hope The Tomato Song and the rest
of the tracks and videos we will create will help get kids and adults
alike tapping, singing, dancing, and clapping, and thinking about the
ways that they can have a positive impact on our environment and
world.

3. Also take a look at the photos of the site for our Community
Garden in development. Through a partnership with a local German
automotive shop, Yarrow Sport, the Resychos are beginning work and
planning to help manage a Community Garden that will be open to the
community, and offer educational opportunities to local schools and
programs. We also hope to harvest produce to sell as a fundraiser in
local farmer's markets, and also give small plants and seedlings to
families of students at our school, so that they can begin to think
about how to supplement their own food sources with sustainable
homegrown options.

4. Since beginning to weigh our paper recycling this fall, the
Recychos have helped reuse over 600 pounds of paper, not to mention
unweighed amounts of glass, plastic, aluminum, and cardboard
containers. Right now they are coordinating with the other campuses
of our school to help make the entire school a little bit greener.

5. Beyond that, several members attended an Al Gore speech at Harvard
University and the Bioneers By the Bay conference in New Bedford, MA
this fall, learning from related school and community groups, and have
begun to think of other projects. Two such projects include working
spoken word and hip hop into the Resychos song book, and also seeking
to involve Solar Power, along with energy consumption reduction in the
continued green culture building of our campus.
